Youth Work Assistants – Sessional (rolling recruitment until all shifts filled)
Help make our youth work programme happen! We’re looking for a team of sessional assistants to work with our Youth Workers to ensure the smooth running of our regular youth groups and other events. You will run games and activities, support and motivate the young people attending, and work as part of a team to ensure our groups are safe spaces where everyone can feel like they belong.
We are looking for candidates who have availability in term time at any of the following times and locations on a regular basis:
- Mondays 5.30-8.30pm, central Peterborough
- Tuesdays 5.30-8.30pm, Ely
- Every other Tuesday 5.30-8.30pm, Huntingdon
- Every other Wednesday 5.30-8.30pm, St Neots
- Wednesdays 5.30-8.30pm, central Cambridge
- Every other Thursday 5.30-8.30pm, Wisbech
- Every other Thursday 5.30-8.30pm, March
- Saturdays, once a month, 12-3pm, South Cambs or Cambridge (swimming group)
- Occasional Fridays and Mondays 5.30pm – 8.30pm at a variety of locations across the county
Other shifts will be available to support residentials and events, so additional availability is advantageous but not essential.
Youth Work Assistants will be offered the opportunity to complete a Level 3 First Aid qualification in spring 2022 and an opportunity to complete a Level 2 Youth Work practice qualification when next offered by a local accredited provider.
Applicants are asked to apply using the application form below and specify which of the above shifts they would be able to undertake on a regular basis – by this we mean at least 80% of the time.
Reasonable travel expenses and travel time will be paid in line with our policy on staff expenses. Most groups are accessible by public transport, though some are easier than others depending on your home location.
Applications are received and assessed on a rolling basis against the person specification to judge whether there will be taken forward to interview – the threshold for this is some evidence being provided for meeting at least ten of the criteria in the person specification.
Interviews will take place by zoom call and last approximately 30 minutes. We will make a decision within 2 working days as to whether we would like to offer you a position. This will be subject to the provision of 2 satisfactory references and the completion of a DBS check in line with our safeguarding and vetting procedure, and also subject to a probationary period of 3 months.
Once references and a DBS check have been received, we will confirm the exact shifts we would like you to take on between January and March 2022.
The role will start the week commencing the 10th January 2022, however successful candidates will need to be available for induction training (including safeguarding) at 4-9pm on Thursday 6th January, to take place in Ely.
As applications are considered on a rolling basis we recommend returning you application form to email@example.com at the earliest opportunity.
Due to the safeguarding responsibilities of the role, applicants must be aged 18 and over.
Associate Trainer (rolling recruitment)
Join our pool of Associate Trainers and help us to deliver our Schools and Training Programme across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and surrounding areas. If you have previous experience of delivering training and knowledge of LGBTQ+ identities, apply today!
We aim to respond and advise whether we will be taking your application to the next stage within four weeks, however this may be delayed by periods of service closure at certain times of the year. The application process will also include: an interview, two references from those who have seen you train previously, and a DBS check.
If successful you will join our pool of Associate Trainers and be invited to deliver training on our behalf dependent on availability, geographical location and any specialisms. The Kite Trust cannot guarantee any number of hours being offered to Associate Trainers as availability of shifts is dependent on client demand.
The majority of training delivered in-person by The Kite Trust is in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and surrounding areas, therefore Associate Trainers looking to deliver in-person should also reside within or close to this area. However, some training is delivered remotely using online platforms and therefore applications from prospective trainers further afield will also be accepted. If this is the case, please focus your application on your experience of delivering training over online platforms.
